SoftwareEngineering
Dilbert on Agile

We are uncovering better ways of developing software by doing it and helping others do it.
Through this work we have come to value:

Individuals and interactions over processes and tools
Working software over comprehensive documentation
Customer collaboration over contract negotiation
Responding to change over following a plan

That is, while there is value in the items on the right, we value the items on the left more.

<--Agile--> <--Iterative--> <--Waterfall-->
<----|-------------|----------------|----->
Adaptive                         Predictive

But "agile" cannot fail in the same way "hammer" cannot fail.[1]

because "agile" can be (needs) to be adopted to the specific environments...

What is 'agile' anyway?

The agile movement asserts that software development works best under: Simple, iterative processes, which empahsise creativity and collaboration. [2]

ScottAmbler?:

An iterative and incremental (evolutionary) approach to software development which is performed in a highly collaborative manner by self-organizing teams within an effective governance framework with "just enough" ceremony that produces high quality software in a cost effective and timely manner which meets the changing needs of its stakeholders.
