Greenspun's 10th rule of programming

Any sufficiently complicated C or Fortran program contains an ad hoc informally-specified bug-ridden slow implementation of half of Common Lisp.

An example of Greenspun's tenth rule in action is the GTK+ library. Though written in C, GTK+ has garbage collection, dynamic loading, object orientation, and even closures, all of which are features of Common Lisp.
